In this paper, the reconstruction of the history of the church preceded using the personality of St. Amphilochius as a kind of “focalizer”. The object of our research in the narrowest sense of the text —— Life of St. Amphilochius, recorded in twelve copies in the Slavic language, as well as its possible Greek original. Re-read one text each time through a new prism is the aim of the work we wrote, trying to put as many questions as possible. At first glance, semantically not very rich text turns out to be a challenge. As cultural researchers, we ask whether it is possible, on the basis of a careful reading of the life of a Saint, to ascertain the relationship between the text and the society creating the textal monument.
