Personnel development today is of high importance for organizations engaged in various industries. Employees should be equipped not only with hard skills, that allow them to do their job, but also with soft skills, which help employees to solve work tasks effectively. These skills are related to time management, stress, communication with other people, etc. In this regard, there is a need to describe the available instruments of the development of these competencies. As part of the thesis, an empirical study was conducted using the included observation, a structured interview and a survey of employees. The respondents were employees of the restaurants of the Permian chain “Kofe-City”. The obtained data was analyzed with factor analysis and statistical methods and reflected the employees' perceptions of the most important soft skills of waiters. Subsequently, the managerial staff assessed possession of the acquired skills in line staff. Afterwards, the list of recommendations was created to help the personnel to develop the competencies.
