English Temporal System and Its Representation in Shakespeare's Works

The present thesis is dedicated to the study of the temporal structure of the Early Modern English verb and its representation in W. Shakespeare’s literature. The paper aims at studying of the grammatical tenses and aspects of the chosen period, the meanings of the verbal forms and their functioning in Shakespeare’s discourse. Into the structure of the work the descriptive method is implemented, within the framework of which observation, generalization, interpretation and classification are presented. The literature review consists of the research done by linguists who describe the English language history (Arakin V.D., Il’ish B.A., Smirnitskii A.I.). Moreover, it includes investigations made in the field of English grammar (Blokh M.Ya., Gurevich V.V., Istomina A.S.).
