Female Representation in the Works of Beat-Generation

In this term paper it is analyzed how attitudes towards women in post-war America were reflected in the works of the Beat-Generation, and an attempt will be made to more fully comprehend the precarious position of the female not only within the “square” American society, but also within a movement that promoted individual freedom, sexual liberation and the rejection of some white, middle-class values, but still held women to a different social standard than men. The study focuses on how females were represented in the works of the Beat generation, connection of this representation with the general situation in the real world and on opposing the perception of women by male and female authors.
