Russian Migrants in Morocco: Adaptation Practices and Communication in a Local Group

This thesis is devoted to the study of the local community of Russian-speaking women in Morocco. The aim of the study is to describe the adaptation of Russian-speaking migrants from Russia and the CIS countries in Morocco. The object of the research is the local community of Russian-speaking migrants from Russia and the CIS countries. The subject is the adaptation of Russian-speaking migrants in Morocco. The work consists of introduction, presentation of the main goals and objectives of the study, analysis of migration theories relevant to the thesis, in particular, a brief overview of research on the topic of transnational marriages, then the research methodology, main results, and conclusion. In this paper, I study the process of the adaptation of Russian-speaking women in Morocco, as well what sociocultural problems do they face, how do they adapt, what new practices do they discover for themselves, how do they communicate within a local group of women from Russia and the CIS countries. This work studies the phenomenon of female marriage migration to Arab countries. The study of the characteristics of this type of migration is important in connection with the specifics of cultural, religious and ideological aspects of life in Arab countries, as well as possible difficulties in the further adaptation of migrants from Russia and the CIS countries. This study was conducted in the framework of the qualitative methodology, and the selection of informants was carried out on the basis of the criterion selection, where the main criterion was the fact of the marriage of a Russian-speaking woman from Russia or the CIS country with a Moroccan. Selected respondents are from Russia and CIS countries such as Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. For all respondents, the Russian language is native. In the process of collecting data, 24 biographical interviews were collected, and thematic blogs were analyzed on the Instagram Internet platform. Additional methods were observation and introspection.
