«The Korean Wave» in Russia: K-pop in Perception of International Audience

This thesis explores the phenomenon of the "Korean wave" in Russia and in the World; the definition of the main factors of its success and it's audience in Russia. The are 3 hypotheses: 1. K-pop audience in Russia are young people aged13-20, women, who love music. 2. The massive spread oh phenomenon of the "Korean wave" in Russia is due to the fan practices of Russian population, because Russian fans create online communities and fan accounts in social media. 3. The interest to Korean music, films and TV-series stimulates interest in Korean culture in general. To achieve the goal of this thesis, we use qualitative and quantitative research methods, which are presented in the form of statistical and thematic analysis of social media, mass online survey and in-depth interviews with k-pop fans.
