Korea's Relations with Central Asian States in the Context of Development Assistance Policies

This study aimed to explore the effect of South Korea's Official Development Assistance (ODA) policies in Central Asia region. Central Asia has long been a region, which has geostrategic significance because of proximity to the interests of several great powers, which are 1) Abundance of natural resources such as gas and petroleum; 2) Favorable geopolitical location. Great/regional powers strive to obtain their interests in the region and ODA have been changing as a mean of obtaining interests for donor-countries in recipients-countries in the name of development aid. Building economic infrastructures and transport (railway, road) are taking place as a foreign aid to Central Asia, therefore this study deals with how South Korea is actively involved in economic projects in Central Asia region, considering S. Korea's ODA internal systematic problem and external factors - neighboring country.
