Firmware for the Controller of Five-axis Milling Machines With Computer Numerical Control

Student: Morozov Sergey

Supervisor: Sergey Makarov

Faculty: Faculty of Computer Science

Educational Programme: Software Engineering (Bachelor)

Final Grade: 8

Year of Graduation: 2019

Over the years technologies for manufacturing at home or for small business has become more and more accessible for home users and small business. One of the core technologies in this field is CNC milling, but complex 5-axis mills are still very expensive. The main objective of this project is to develop firmware which will be suitable for hobbygrade controllers. The project uses some wellknown interpolation and lookahead algorithms which are proven to be effective. As a result, this should be a firmware that will work with hardware which is commonly used by 3D printer users. Such developments may help to make cheaper hobby grade 5-axis CNC machines.
