What does the artist think when he thinks about the work? Does he have any special, mentally approved system, a sequence of actions or the main driving principle? In the case of this perplexity, the study of the artist's application period, Henri Matisse (otherwise Matisse’s cut-outs) will be a kind of visual selection, an attempt to restore the chain of actions, the artist’s internal decisions regarding the approach to the creation of works. At this point, there may be questions in the direction of the name: search for shapes and colors. What does it seem like an attempt to find and show a systematic approach in the works-applications themselves? The theoretical part here is not in analyzing the excision method and the description of this period is historical. The use of paper in applications is a hopeful marker in the installation of the form, its plasticity and change. Therefore, the methodology of visual research is built on a very simple system: all the works of Matisse are collected according to the forms: man; and flora and fauna (images of flora and fauna).
