There are many reasons for the possible revision of the Constitution of Japan 1947 and, in particular, Article 9. It causes constant disputes in Japanese society. Despite the fact there is a number of studies on Article 9 revision problem, little is known about the main trend of the Japanese society’s perception. Moreover, the possible outcomes of the revision are barely considered. The research on the basis of the questionnaire conducted in Osaka University shows that people with degree are rather “for” pacifist Article 9 amendment than “against” it. Nevertheless, they also fear that the constitutional revision can lead to instability in the region. The results are quite contradictory. That is why this study predicts that Abe administration can fail as well as succeed in the Constitution amending with equal probability.
