The Evolution of Organizational Design of Russian Media Holdings

In the graduation project an attempt was made to analyze how the organizational design of Russian media holdings is transformed under the influence of technology. This paper reviews the main approaches to the understanding of organizational design, describes the influence of the company's structure on its effectiveness, and identifies features of media company design. Besides, the mechanisms and stages of introducing modern technologies in the media environment are described, trends in the influence of IT on organizational design are defined, structural transformations in the conditions of digitalization are considered. Also using the case study method based on information obtained through expert interviews with top management of companies and data from open sources, the transformation of the organizational structure in Russian media holdings is analyzed using the example of Banki.ru, Rumedia and VGTRK. The study was able to confirm the hypothesis that the relationship between technological progress and the organizational design of media holdings exists. The more automated the processes of creating a media product become, the fewer elements and connections are needed to form the organizational structure of a company.
