Nowadays more and more people can hardly imagine their life without smartphones and computers. These tools became our everyday friends, which help us to choose what to wear with fast access to actual weather forecast, to search information or navigate our way, to read books and make pictures of the valuable moments of our lives. Furthermore, with them, we can reach our family and friends in several seconds with the voice or video call, via different chat platforms or social networks. These changes have tremendously influenced the way people communicate today. Despite the all benefits which came along with the technological progress the permanent use of digital technologies started to cause different forms of addictions: such as the Internet, smartphone, gaming and social media. Assuming that special help organizations are cost-based and have not yet got the spread worldwide and phone usage tracking applications are providing only statistical data and allow just to confirm the existence of the problem, we believe that there is a need for more developments on this agenda. The aim of this paper is to synthesize knowledge on impact of digital technology on humans’ health and on methods, which could be implemented for controlled use of digital devices, as well as raise the awareness of the influence of digital technologies by creating available for everyone handbook, which will help people use their devices consciously and spent the time on digital productively. In the first chapter were considered how digital influences the brain and which symptoms it is causing. In the second chapter, we considered which methods can be applied to combat digital abuse. Then we analyzed which method of visualization will be applicable for creating a handbook. Finally, we developed a handbook on digital hygiene.
