Cybersecurity Audit Data Visualization Methodology Selection

The master thesis is devoted to studying of standards and techniques visualization, their application to cybersecurity audit reports, development of recommendations about improvement of existing solutions about visualization in reports and development of own template report. The purpose of this work was selecting and developing effective method to represent information in cybersecurity audit report. The chapter 1 contains of the thesis standards and recommendations of data visualizations, description and analysis of existing text reports and dashboards by popular cybersecurity companies, their shortcomings and recommendations about improvement. The chapter 2 proposed solution and its development is in detail described: researching of input data, developing datasources schema, creation of the model, selecting of the software for implementation, presenting of the developed report. The chapter 3 consist of the principles about storage, transfer and use of the report and its prototypes, description of interaction with users, comparison of own solution with existing solutions and the analysis of results. As a result, standards and recommendations to creation of visualization were described and studied, the existing reports of cybersecurity audit and also dashboard of popular scanners such as tenable.io Web App Scanning, Nessus Professional Vulnerability Scanner, Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner are considered and analysed, recommendations on improvement were offered and own template of the report was developed.
