Development of international interactions gave people an opportunity to cooperate and work together globally, so now they are looking for effective ways of doing it. Businessmen and businesswomen experience many inconveniences when it comes to intercultural communication as all people demonstrate different cultural backgrounds which leads to miscommunications and even conflicts. This thesis is focused on providing specific knowledge and techniques that can help workers all over the world to become better cross-cultural communicators in the conditions of cultural diversity. The object of the work is to review the principal factors that may enhance intercultural competence (IC) and intelligence skills in business. I have employed the method of face-to-face interview and asked representatives of “Gazprom Neft” organization and Swedish pharmaceutical company 15 questions in order to analyze their positive and negative intercultural business interactions experiences at the workplace and define useful tips and approaches according to them. The findings illustrate the fact that successful international business cooperation depends on IC skills and the advantages and opportunities it provides as it allows to avoid or overcome communication breakdowns that may occur. However, intercultural communication remains rather challenging for Russian companies so they need to develop new effective directions of this issue improvement. I support further research on this topic to find more suitable techniques and determine people to be involved in this significant issue by learning more about cultural diversity and IC as it will benefit their career progress. Key words: Business events, business event-management, international business communication, intercultural communication, cultural diversity, intercultural intelligence, intercultural competence, conflict management.
