Differentiation of Birth Rates in the Cities of the Central Federal District of Russia

Master's thesis is devoted to the topic of differences in the level of fertility in urban areas of the Central Federal district in Russia. The data sources were microdata of the Russian Census 2010. Using the data, we made the first attempt to calculate the average number of births among women of different generations in Russia at the level of small territories. In the course of the work, the birth rate differences of women in the cities of the Central Federal district were analyzed. The paper proves the influence of the settlement size on the birth rate is shown. In addition, we described the possible impact of several factors on the observed differences in fertility rates, for example, the level of women education.
