Master's thesis is devoted to the description and analysis of the relationship of migration indicators with indicators characterizing the housing stock. The study is based on two databases: Municipal Statistics Database and Database “Economics of Russian Cities”, “multi-stat” (both in Federal State Statistics Service). In the calculations the authors used statistics for 2000-2016. The paper shows that there is a connection between migration growth and the introduction of housing in Russian cities and municipalities. In cities with large migration gains such connection is better observed. In cities, with a small migration gain it is difficult to establish the reasons for the introduction of houses, as the permanent population also needs to expand the living space, regardless of migration. The reason for this may be the predominance in the housing stock of the Soviet building, the housing supply of which is much lower than in European countries. The cities located close to Moscow were considered in more detail. Based on the characteristics of their housing stock, it is assumed that the population in these cities is underestimated. The authors estimated the real population, which can be 20% more than according to the published statistics. The regional capitals and suburban municipalities were analyzed in thesis. The authors have also identified the relationship between groups of migrants in certain ages with some types of housing (individual, not apartment buildings).
