Nowadays, disputes are being held about how new technologies will affect companies. At the moment, many companies are actively investing in innovative products, not fully aware of the potential of technology, the perception of these products by customers and the economic benefits of investing in them. Moreover, in the scientific literature, the topic of studying mergers and acquisitions in long-term remains unexplored. These facts indicate actuaility of the problem whether M&A deals have an impact on the companies performance. The purpose of the work is to assess the impact of mergers and acquisitions transactions in high-tech industries on the bidder’s share value in the short-term and long-term. As the results, we received that: (1) M&A in IT destroy shareholders value of buyers. (2) Acquisition of non-public companies leads to a greater distruction of the buyer’s share value. (3) M&A deals greater destroy value of buyers from emerging countries. (4) Cross-border deals greater destroy buyer’s share value than local.
