Intercultural Conflicts in Academic Environment

The system of higher education is evolving in response to global processes and tendencies of the contemporary society. Two major processes influence the educational system and specifically academic environment, paving the way to intercultural conflicts to emerge. The first one is globalization as a tendency for global interdependence and partnership, the second – high level of international and intra-state academic mobility as a consequence of internationalization of education. The research aims at exploring the essence, reasons, and outcomes of intercultural conflicts in academic environment. For the purpose of the research, qualitative analysis is applied with survey research method as the main instrument for collecting data. The results of the study contribute to the existing knowledge about intercultural conflicts, and demonstrate the real situation around intercultural conflicts in academic environment of the particular educational programme.
