The main parameters that determine the formation of expressive oral speech of students in a foreign language include the correspondence of a statement to a given topic, the number of phrases built according to the models of the studied language and their diversity. However, the number and nature of mistakes is also considered as one of the key indicators of successful mastering the language. Therefore, the phenomenon of mistakes has been in the spotlight of both Russian and foreign researchers. The present study aims to examine common mistakes in spoken English production of bachelor linguistics students in order to analyze and classify them, and give relevant recommendations. Identification and analysis of mistakes allow us to reveal certain difficulties and patterns of language learning in a particular training. The relevance of the research lies in the fact that previous studies did not consider the oral speech of linguistics students in particular, but focused on oral and written language in general. In order to conduct a more detailed research, quantitative analysis of the statistics and qualitative methods are implied, based on the language data. Speaking about the results, we hope that the study will fill the research gap and in the future methodologists, teachers and students will apply the recommendations in practice. Keywords: mistakes, prepared speech, unprepared speech, error analysis, bachelor linguistics students, spoken English production
