Innovative achievements of any society, as a driver of scientific and technological progress, require the protection of intellectual property rights in order to effectively use the results of intellectual activity, commercialization and obtaining a positive economic effect, providing strategic advantages in development. While large companies and monopolies benefit from the use of huge amounts of resources to finance both a broad strategy of legal protection and illegal "industrial espionage", small innovative companies are forced to fight and survive by finding and providing any strategic advantages in the field of international business, mainly in choosing a model of management of intellectual property instruments. The paper studies the experience and options of intellectual property management in the framework of horizontal differentiation of products of small innovative companies operating in the international market of goods and services. One of the approaches to the choice of the model of management of intellectual property tools to ensure the strategic advantages of the company, based on the integration of methods of commercialization of intellectual property in a hybrid management strategy. At the same time, the criteria for the optimal choice of the intellectual property protection tool are obtained and tested on the basis of the identified factors of decision-making on the management of intellectual property protection tools.
