Year of Graduation: 2019

The reflexive pronoun SVOJ raises particular difficulties for most Russian language learners. Modern textbooks cover only the coreference of the pronoun with the subject in the nominative case. However, the pronoun can also refer to non-canonical antecedents in oblique cases. Insufficient information on the topic leads to regular mistakes in the use of SVOJ by non-native speakers of Russian. The objective of this research is to investigate the major mistakes in the use of the pronoun presented in the Russian Learner Corpus. Having done this, we made a more precise description of the pronoun for Russian language learners and created extra materials aimed at the reinforcement of these grammar rules.
