Short-term and Long-term Business Goals in Global Value Chain: Compromises of Calculation

The economic system is described as a balance between conflicting value rationales. At the global value chain level, achieving of balance becomes more difficult by conflicting long-term and short-term interests of supply chain participants. This paper aimed to understand by which scales of evaluation and concepts the balance between these interests is achieved. The study performed in qualitative design on the example of the Russian part of the global value chain in markets of hygiene products and small household appliances. Empirical data is collected on the basis of the included observation and analysis of semi-structured in-depth interviews conducted with people employed in firms belonged to studied global value chain.
