The current final qualifying paper is devoted to the study of the types of linguistic interference and its demonstration in the translation of texts from English into Russian. This study was conducted on the material of the text of the media from the newspaper The Moscow Times in English and Russian. The relevance of this study lies in the fact that high-quality translation, in particular media texts, plays an important role not only in the interaction and transmission of information from different native speakers to one another, but the aesthetic and psychological factors of the translated texts are also relevant. The effect of a “foreign language” sounding in the translated text may indicate the poor quality, lack of professionalism of the translator, and, in addition, the text of the media can mislead and misinform the readers. The current work consists of introduction, two chapters, conclusion, bibliography and 2 applications. In the introduction, the object and subject of the study are determined; formulated the purpose and main objectives. The theoretical chapter defines the concept of “interference” as a linguistic term, identifies the causes of the occurrence of interference of one language in another, defines the types of language interference and gives examples of its manifestation at different language levels. In the research chapter, a comparative analysis of this article in the original and translation was carried out, the most pronounced interferences were found, which led to a distortion of the text or its inconsistency on the TL, and they were given more suitable transmission options to the Russian language in terms of the correctness of the combination of words and construction offers in Russian. In addition, potential interferences have been found and analyzed in the text, which were noticed by the translator and despite which the text was translated correctly and in accordance with the standards of the TL. In conclusion general conclusions on the study are given. The bibliographic list contains the book and electronic resources which were referred to for conducting this study, and they are set in the alphabetical order. Appendix 1 gives the text of the analyzed article in the original and in translation. Appendix 2 provides statistics on the calculation of the number of cases of language interferences, grouped by types by V. V. Aliyev.
