Velvet Revolution in Armenia 2018: Comparative Analysis of State and Alternative Media Using Data Journalism Tools

The following thesis is dedicated to the analysis of the media agenda during the "velvet revolution" in Armenia (April-May, 2018) with the tools of data journalism and computer linguistics. In Chapter 1 the author gives the detailed description of the revolution process and its key actors (former president Serj Sargsyan, revolution leader Nikol Pashinyan) that allows to indicate key dates and periods in the revolution. Then in Chapter 2 the author gives a description of key media outlets, both pro-governmental and alternative. The Chapter 3 is dedicated to the media agenda of both pro-governmental and alternative media with the aim to find differences and similarities in the coverage of revolution process. The given analysis allows to conclude and prove that pro-governmental media tried to silence the revolution until the date of the resignation of former President of Armenia Serj Sargsyan.
