The goal of this paper is to identify the link between foreign direct investment and the flying geese paradigm in Vietnam. The study provides an analysis of the statistical data of the UN Comtrade database, as well as an analysis of the data of the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and general statistics of Vietnam. Materials for following paper are presented by works of scientists devoted to such a unique phenomenon of regional economic development, as a paradigm or model of “flying geese”, as well as articles on the investment climate in Vietnam in general. Compiling and analyzing the data obtained and the results, I confirm my hypothesis that Vietnam can assume the role of the “leading goose” in one of the “flocks of flying geese” in some industries.
