Increasing Transportation Efficiency on the Example of a Trading Company

Today's business success largely dependent on supply chain efficiency. The cost of transporting goods is an integral cost item for each company and is especially important for food retail companies, since this sector cannot sacrifice the quality of goods, the level of service and the availability of goods on the shelf. In today's market, it is not enough for food retail companies to offer goods at an affordable price. They have to offer much more if they want to remain competitive. Complex supply chains of food retail companies require special attention, planning and coordination, since they are closely related to the shelf life of the goods, the temperature standards, the appearance of the packaging and the product itself. The purpose of this work is to develop analytically and economically sound recommendations for improving transportation efficiency using the example of «Perekrestok TH» as a typical representative of a trading company in the food retail sector. Master's thesis consists of the following elements: introduction, three informative chapters, conclusion, list of references (60 titles), 1 annex. The main text of the work is presented on 87 pages, including 24 tables and 17 figures. The first chapter analyzes the Russian food retail market. The general characteristic of the companies in the sector and the influence of the logistics system on their key performance indicators and generalized problems. The second chapter analyzes the Russian road transport market and the importance of transport companies in the food retail sector. An algorithm for planning delivery for companies in this sector is being developed. The third chapter is devoted to the analysis of the economic activity of «Perekrestok TH» the implementation of the proposed measures and the calculation of economic efficiency. The practical result of this work is the development of a comprehensive procedure for improving transportation processes in companies operating in the food retail market.
