At the beginning of 2017, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States of America, succeeding Barack Obama. Notorious for its impulsivity and hastiness, Trump's tweets have brought significant changes to the political communication of the American elite, essentially reversing the understanding of the role of social networks in politics. The controversy around twitter diplomacy in international politics calls for a greater understanding of the topic. This thesis studies psychological concepts of conducting digital diplomacy and the metamorphoses that Donald J. Trump has brought into the political environment. The main question explored is how twitter of Donald Trump has changed the diplomacy of the United States of America. Additionally, a case study of tweets reveals that D. Trump's manipulative use of language on Twitter is a telltale sign of propaganda.
