The study is aimed at identifying whether Russian people’s values differ when they are studied by researchers from different countries or they stay the same. In the given research such concepts as mentality, linguistic picture of the world, human values, and Russian culture are thoroughly examined. The first stage of the empirical part contains the comparative analysis of the secondary data, the research conducted by foreign and Russian scholars. They are analyzed in order to compare the results and to understand if there are any differences in data found by the researchers. During the second stage of the empirical part the analysis of the primary data is added. Schwartz’s Value Survey (SVS) is carried out amongst students of Moscow universities to identify the most and the least important values for them. As for the final part of the research, all of the results are compared and the differences in them are identified. The author employs qualitative approach, Schwartz’s value survey (SVS), quantitative research, and comparative analysis in order to collect and analyze data. The results show that the differences in Russian values depend not on the country of the person who studies them but on the year of the research.
