Personal Data Protection in Employment Relationships

The rapid development of digital technologies and its integration into people’s daily life leads to the massive digitalization of personal data, which, as a part of the privacy rights, requires adequate protection measures. This issue is particularly relevant in employer-employee relationships, as the first has the dominant position in the hierarchy and thus has control over employee’s personal data. In such conditions those relationships are regulated by the labor law, therefore preventing arbitrary use, collection, processing, and storage of employee’s personal data. The subject of this research is personal data protection in employment relationships. Innovativeness of the thesis consists in submission of comprehensive legal research of personal data protection in employment relationships in the Russian legislation’s system with drawing attention to GDPR.
