Comparative Research of the Russian Constitution

Student: Goludin Kirill

Supervisor: Irina Alebastrova

Faculty: Faculty of Law

Educational Programme: Jurisprudence (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2020

This Thesis makes a comparative analysis of the Constitution of the Russian Federation of 1993 with constitutions of mainly the post-socialist countries of Eastern Europe. The main criteria on which the comparison is made are: the history of constitutionalism, ways to review and amend the text of constitutions, and means of implementing the principle of separation of powers, which are enshrined in the constitutions. In the final part of the study, the comparison of the Russian Constitution is carried out with the constitutions of semi-presidential democratic republics, as a result of which significant pressure points and shortcomings of the Russian Constitution are identified, which put at risk the development of democratic institutions in Russia. At the same time, such an analysis helps to identify models that have been successfully implemented in democratic countries and which should be consolidated in our Constitution.
