Consideration of the Eastern development strategy of Russia and regional economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and China is quite relevant at the moment, since the situation in the international arena is difficult to call stable. In the context of tension, it is very important to understand whether Russia and China will continue to maintain friendly relations and strengthen mutual cooperation. In the face of the confrontation between Russia and the West, China is a very profitable partner for Russia. But it is important to objectively assess the state of Russian-Chinese relations and make adequate forecasts about their further development. The issue of the future development of Russian-Chinese economic relations is now more relevant than ever, since China and Russia occupy leading positions in the international arena. Russian-Chinese relations are not just relations between two States. The role and significance of both States in the world makes their relations an essential component of the entire world system of international relations. That is why it is very important today to understand the essence of these relations. Summing up the results of the study, it should be noted that over the long history of Russia, one of the main mechanisms for spatial development of the country was the state policy of expansion, settlement and development of the Eastern part of the country – from the Urals to the Pacific ocean. In the most General sense, this is the Eastern development strategy of the Russian Federation. Economic relations between Russia and China are likely to continue to expand gradually, which is natural for large neighboring economies. However, in order to deepen cooperation and strengthen mutual dependence, they have a long way to go and solve many contradictions.
