An Employment Contract with a Professional Football Player

The graduation qualification work is devoted to the problems of regulation of professional football players' employment. In work questions of a branch belonging of relations between football club and the football professional are considered. It defines the legal nature of regulations of international and all-Russian sports federations, explores the place of FIFA and RAF regulations in the system of regulation of professional football players' employment. The author analyzes the legal status of professional football players and underlines a number of features typical for professional football players' employment. Problematic aspects of the conclusion, termination and modification of the employment contract between a football club and a professional football player are studied in detail. Consideration shall be given to contentious issues such as the disciplinary liability of athletes and the possibility of imposing a fine as a disciplinary sanction shall be assessed. Provisions related to the change/termination of the employment contract in connection with a transfer to another job, transfer of players to other football clubs are considered. Attention is paid to additional grounds for termination of an employment contract with professional football players. As part of the work on the example of football, the author has developed proposals to improve labor legislation in the field of labor regulation of professional athletes. In the course of the conducted research it is offered to expand autonomy of sports federations in the field of regulation of labor activity of sportsmen.
