From the beginning of the 21st-century, cine products in which the role of a protagonist is given to an antihero are being increasingly produced. An antihero is a character who, in contrast to a hero, is deprived of positive qualities and sometimes endowed with dubious, harmful and even villainous character traits such as cheating, narcissism, cruelty, etc. Since this trend has also affected the animation industry and cartoon remains one of the most influential media-tools for influencing children, it is vital to understand how the image of such a character is portrayed on the screen and what it can teach a young generation. The research is devoted to the problem issue of the antihero image in animated films, as well as its possible transformation into a positive character and a hero, using the case of American cartoon production in the XX and XXI centuries.
