The dissertation is dedicated to identifying promising digital technologies of economic agents using the example of blockchain. The paper presents an analysis and comparison of the classical approach to understanding what economic agents are, and in the new established institutional cryptoeconomics. It is shown why this type of economy, based on peer-to-peer decentralized networks, in the example of which blockchain is an example, is more perfect than the classical one. The analysis carried out around the world and in a sample of countries: Switzerland, Indonesia, Argentina, Tanzania, showed how each country should develop. The analysis revealed that in order to change the understanding of economic agents, it is necessary to rethink this concept, taking into account the concept of blockchain, and shift the new norms to a group of countries. Switzerland and Indonesia need to increase their legal base, as well as develop as decentralized states, and Argentina and Tanzania to focus on educational programs and equipping the state with technical devices.
