Difference of Roguelike from Games with Roguelike Elements

Student: Konev Ivan

Supervisor: Arseniy V. Meshcheryakov

Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Design (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2020

Today the roguelike genre is gaining high popularity, as a result of which the number of combinations of the roguelike genre and its elements is growing. Because of this, it becomes more difficult for players and developers to determine the genre of a game project: a game of the roguelike genre and a game with elements of the roguelike genre. The purpose of the work is to highlight the key characteristics of the roguelike genre and to create, on their basis, an effective methodology for determining the genre of a specific project (between games of the roguelike genre and games with elements of the roguelike genre).
