Specific of Russian-French Relations after E. Macron Came to Power

Bilateral cooperation between Russia and France is mutually beneficial for both countries. However, Russia's relations with Western European countries have been experiencing a protracted crisis since 2014, caused by the war in Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea. In such circumstances, Russia needs a reliable political and economic partner in Western Europe. For a long time, France has been such a partner, which is why it is worth paying attention to building a competent relationship with the current President of the country, E. Macron. The development of diplomatic relations with France can directly contribute to the improvement of Russian-European relations. The purpose of this work is to determine the specifics of Russian-French relations at the present stage and the prospects for their development. Various analysis methods were used for the study, such as retrospective analysis to understand the history of interaction between the two countries and avoid possible mistakes in the future, and comparative analysis to determine the priority policy directions of E. Macron in comparison to Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande. This study aims to analyzing the specifics of relations between France and Russia, so that it would be possible determine the most favorable vector of cooperation and evolution of relations for both countries.
