Few studies consider the real policies of the European Union, which in fact go beyond the statutory documents. The uniqueness of this paper is that the author conducted a single case study along with comparative analysis that identified the geopolitical interests and policies of the European Union in the Arctic, which are not stated in the statutory documents. In addition, the collaboration of the Russian Federation and the European Union in the Arctic region was examined, and recommendations were made for further mutually beneficial interactions among these actors of international relations.
