In 2015, the UN adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The document consists of 17 goals aimed at sustainable development in the social, economic and environmental spheres. The study examined the role of Italy in the implementation of the SDGs in the field of environmental protection (No. 11; No. 12; No. 14; No. 15) for the period from 2015 to 2019. The paper analyses the environmental policy of Italy and the actions taken by this country to implement the SDGs in the environmental sphere. It also analyses the results that Italy has achieved in this area. Since the concept of the SDGs appeared only in 2015, this topic has not been sufficiently studied and there are practically no studies on the role of Italy in the implementation of the SDGs in the field of environmental protection. The aim of this work is to determine the contribution of Italy to the implementation of these goals. The work will use high-quality analysis methods, including document analysis and comparative analysis. It is anticipated that the expected results of the study may be useful to researchers interested in studying Italian policies and sustainable development.
