The aim of this work is to identify the consequences of the introduction of EU sanctions and retaliatory sanctions of the Russian Federation on trade and investment relations between Russia and Spain. In the course of the study, the conceptual apparatus and essence of sanctions were studied, a retrospective of the features of introducing economic sanctions was evaluated, in particular, the chronology of the introduction of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation and retaliatory sanctions of the Russian Federation. We analyzed the change in trade and investment relations between Spain and Russia as a result of mutual sanctions, built a regression model to assess the impact of sanctions on investment and trade relations between Russia and Spain, on the basis of which we identified promising areas for the development of trade and investment relations between Russia and Spain. The master's thesis consists of an introduction, three chapters, conclusion, list of references and applications. The first chapter discusses the main theoretical provisions of the sanctions. The second chapter is devoted to assessing the impact of EU trade and economic sanctions and Russia's counter-sanctions on trade and investment ties between Russia and Spain. The third chapter reflects the promising directions of development of trade and economic relations between countries at the present stage.
