How did a movie about space evolve? What has changed over time? In this study, I examined the main changes that took place in space movies in the 20th century using spacecraft, spacesuits, and dashboards as examples. When choosing films, I relied on their significance for the genre, as well as on the role that exactly the images of space play in the narrative. There are more films with space surroundings than in the presented study, but I decided to focus on those that most openly show cosmic realities, as well as those that better represent the spirit of its time.
