The Impact of Foreign Direct Investment of People's Republic of China on the Development of China-Russia Relations

Since 2014, due to the deterioration of relations with Western partners, under the conditions of the sanctions imposed, the concept of “Turning East” has received particular development, in the context of which the Chinese direction has received a priority vector for Russian foreign policy and foreign economic activity, in connection with which China's importance as a strategically important source of investment in the Russian economy, which currently needs full-scale modernization of industry and infrastructure, is emphasized.However, despite the current political situation, as well as the objective mutual complementarity characteristic of the Russian and Chinese economies, the current stage of cooperation in the investment sphere is characterized by a significant imbalance of interests, which is reflected in the dynamics of investment flows, which represents a potential challenge to the economic and political security of Russia.
