This study is devoted to the analysis of the transformation of the professional identity of the Russian IT community in the process of socio-political mobilization. We assume that recent cases of socio-political mobilization, such as an open letter from the IT community in support of the defendants of the Moscow case and the “Devs Against The Machine” hackathon, influenced representations of representatives of the IT community about their profession, and this, in turn, transformed their professional identity. The study considers the transformation of identity through the lens of communication, since it is communication and language that are the dimension where identity is formed and reconsidered.
