Over the past two decades, many scientists and researchers have viewed the concept of resilience from various sides. However, despite the fact that research in the field of resilience is constantly growing, there is a problem of a lack of necessary measurement measures. This study describes the development of a theoretically based, complex multidimensional indicator of the resilience of students in grades 4. An extensive review of the literature served as the basis for identifying likely significant factors of resilience, which were then taken from the 2015 TIMSS survey. To check the significance of the selected factors, two models were tested: a linear regression model and a binary choice model. The resulting sample contains 4921 observations of 4th grade students from 208 educational institutions in 42 regions of the country, representing Russia in the TIMSS study on 11 characteristics that measure resilience factors in areas such as personality, family, peers, school, and community. With further psychometric testing, this new measure of resilience is expected to provide researchers and health professionals with a comprehensive and developmental tool for measuring a young person's ability to achieve positive results despite life's stresses.
