Impact of Crisis in 2014-2015 on Regional Innovation Activity in Russia

This research is the investigation of the 2014-2015 crisis impact on the innovative activity of the Russian regions. The research was conducted on the basis of the Federal State Statistics Service data for 85 Russian regions for 2010-2018. The panel data base of 711 observations for 79 regions was formed. A pooled model, a model with fixed effects and a model with random effects were used as a methodology. A substantial positive effect of the crisis was identified and significant differences in the estimates of the models before and after the 2014-2015 crisis were interpreted. The results of the study may catch the interest of regional authorities, as well as scientists investigating the factors of regional innovative activity.
