Audio Storytelling in Podcasts in Russia: Development, Promotion and Monetization

This final paper is about the phenomenon of podcasting, audio storytelling and the way it can be monetized. Podcasting appeared less than 20 years ago and is still being formed in the theory of media. The creators are in search of the best forms to explain the story using all the benefits of sound such as the voice, the emotions we hear and the sequence of actions. On the other hand, they are trying to find the way to get more money from podcasts. In this paper we studied many statistics and scholar papers concerning podcasts, paying attention on its definition, history and consumption. Besides, we analyzed the narrative of three podcasts. Moreover, we have conducted an interview of the experts of podcast industry in Russia to describe the work of it nowadays. As a result, we have found out the connection between the audio storytelling in podcasts and the monetization and distribution.
