Features of Web-series Production in Russia (Creative Format)

In 2018 web series was presented at separate panel at the Mipcom, The World’s Entertainment Content Market in Cannes, and the Russian series “Hidden Track” (Valentina Nazarova, 2019) was included in the review of the most interesting projects of the year. Following the global trends of the VOD platforms legitimization as competitive players in the film industry and the popularization of web series, the Russian digital film market is also moving. The general purpose of this study is to develop a project of our own web series to examine this type of online content benefits and specific features that attract both content producers and the viewers. To achieve this objective, the study provides an overview of streaming platforms characteristics and specifics of web series narratives and dramatic structure. The result of the project is a developed producer kit of teen web series for one of the Russian streaming platforms. Our findings might allow practices in the field of creative industry understand find better and effective strategy of organizing the pre-production process of producing web series.
