Biblio-Globus is one of the largest bookstores in Russia. More than 10,000 people visit it daily. In a state of rush demand, a well-functioning, intuitive navigation system plays a special role. The purpose of visual research: To study the experience of building navigation systems in the largest bookstores in the world with the aim of organizing a more comfortable space for visitors to the Biblio-Globus store. Problems: 1. In the Biblio-Globe there is no single style of navigation system. Landmarks are scattered and not interconnected. The visitor needs more time to find the right book. 2. There is no single card in the sales area, which does not allow the visitor to determine his position at any point in the store. 3. Information stands are designed using complex readable typographic solutions and are located in inconspicuous places 4. The store’s space is filled with a lot of information that creates excess noise and conflicts with the navigation system. The principles of the navigation system: 1. intuitive 2. environment design 3. orientation anywhere in the store 4. search for services and product categories 5. advertising opportunities Navigation System Levels: 1. map 2. hanging signs 3. stands / floor / wall signs 4. pointers on cabinets 5. personal navigation (recommendations for books) Based on the results of the visual study, it can be concluded that the navigation system in the bookstore can have different designs and give the visitor a different degree of freedom when moving around the hall. The principle of building the system may depend on the positioning and marketing strategy of the company. An overly strict system, such as Amazon Books, can be perfectly consistent in terms of style and intuitive. However, it excludes any emotions from the book selection process and makes the purchase look like a normal trip to the grocery store. The process of choosing a book, on the contrary, is for many deeply intimate and represents a kind of ritual. Therefore, the navigation system should not interfere with this. Suggestions. The first 2 stages that a buyer goes through (searching for a room and a bookcase) should be accompanied by a system of pointers that is as clear and intuitive as possible. After finding the right category or book, the visitor may begin to doubt his choice. And at this stage, he will be able to help determine the reviews of customers or bookstore staff. A good solution would be to use “human” handwritten reviews.
