Art and culture have always been and remain a mirror image of the events shown in them and reflection on the events of the past from the height of today's experience. Painting, literature and cinema have no less impact on public opinion than science and the media, so art is the most important propaganda tool. Cinema of China from 1949 to 2000 together with the country itself went through enormous trials and a number of structural changes. Government control over all spheres of the country's life is a distinctive feature of the very statehood of the People’s Republic of China. The study of China's domestic policy is impossible in isolation from the study of objects of control. Cinema is one of the most effective propaganda tools, which determines the relevance of studying this particular area of art. This thesis is aimed at studying the methods, forms and results of ideological management of the activities of Chinese filmmakers. The aim of this work is to determine the main features of the ideological influence on cinema of the PRC in the second half of the 20th century. For this, the following tasks were set: identifying the main stages of the development of cinema of the PRC; consideration of the main forms of influence on Chinese cinema; revealing the characteristics of Chinese cinema, determined by ideological factors.
