Russian Literature of the 19th Century in French Translations (Petersbourg Tales of Nikolai Gogol)

This graduation work is devoted to studying Russian literature of the XIX century in French translations and all the factors that affect them. This study examines the chronology of translations of Gogol's novel "the Overcoat" from the middle of the XIX century to the XXI century. The purpose of this degree work is to compare the French translations of Gogol's "Overcoat", to find different stylistic techniques used by the translators. This thesis also includes analyses of articles by various authors about Gogol and his work, as well as research on the influence of policy on culture and the opinions of critics.
