This paper will analyse foreign and domestic political factors of development of the Union State of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. In the first part of the work, a comparative analysis of theoretical approaches to the study of regional integration was made, as well as the analysis of key stages of integration in the post-Soviet space. The second part of the paper deals with foreign and domestic political factors of integration of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. The third part of the paper defines the current state of the Union State and its possible development prospects.
